lan Fearnside was born in Worcester in 1948 and grew up above his parents art materials shop and gallery. He left school at 16 to attend art college and subsequently worked in graphic design, advertising, framing, picture restoration and the family shop, learning the art trade.

After some successful exhibitions of his work there was enough money for him to establish his own art shop and gallery which he started in Malvern at the age of 21 years. This he ran very successfully for 25 years.

During this period he was experimenting with different art styles and media as well as writing poetry and teaching at Malvern College of Art. He also designed leaflets for Oxfam, C.N.D as well as National and International companies, winning an award for a leaflet designed for UNICEF.

His paintings are in private and public collections throughout the UK ,Europe ,USA, Asia, Russia and even the Falkland Islands.

ln 1995 he decided to concentrate fully on his painting as well as giving art demonstrations, lectures and writing for art magazines. He has also been featured on BBC television and radio for both his paintings and poetry and is listed Debrett’s Who’s Who in Art and Antiques.
